Carel created a number of folds: folded clay and wax.

In his mind the fold is a projection screen. Our perception is a projection on a folded screen, according to the theories of Gilles Deleuze and Leibniz

A defining elaboration has been made for ACEC, Apeldoorn under the title ‘Seaweed Revisited’ (Summer 2021), where seaweed drawings are projected onto the ceramic folds using an overhead projector
