Living Tissue and Lifeline

Living tissue, tree fences and tree grates in Eibergen 1995

As part of the remodelling of the centre of Eibergen 33 bronze tree grates and 20 bronze tree fences were installed.

For me this was the first time when visual arts were given a functional character.

Lifeline 1997

Follow-up commission: the remodelling of the centre of Eibergen.

A natural separation between traffic and passers-by/café terraces in the centre of Eibergen, by placing street furniture on a line of 52 metres, connected to each other through granite railings (elements of 160×30 cm on 3 blue posts with a height of 60 cm).
The street furniture consists of: 4 light poles; 4×2 traffic signs; 2 benches; 2 planters; 4 trash cans; a pre-existing artwork on a pedestal; posts with bronze fence knobs (from “Living Tissue”); covered bike racks; a stereo slide viewer; 24 granite elements with Carrara inlay.

This operation created separate terraces, as well as a pleasant atmosphere for the people who reside there.

In 2019 an third assignment was started: The Berkel route: from the center to the Berkel beach.

10 places at the river Berkel come back in a 410 m. long route.
