In the lake of the Heijmanspark in Afferden, municipality of Bergen (L), 2002
Bronze, stainless steel, polyester, lead glass. Diameter: 140 cm.
Inspired by the atmosphere of the park a lily shape emerged, which was then created out of bronze elements with a sphere, set with lead glass, representing the bud.
The object is placed in the water in such a way (stainless steel standard on a concrete slab) that the lower leaves are sometimes visible (low tide) and sometimes not (high tide).
It’s surprising to see how the sculpture looks completely different in different light situations, from very striking to almost invisible.
